May 8th, 2014, Mongai was welcomed to Capital Hill by Senator Chris Coons of Delaware who was the chair of the foreign relations committee at the US Senate. Mongai shared her work and vision of No Backpack Day with Senator Coons. Senator Coons was very impressed with the work that Mongai has been doing. He encouraged her to keep on doing it and assured her of his support.
